Programs

St. Henry’s School offers instruction in the French language.  French Immersion classes are available from Grade 1 to Grade 9.

All subjects, Grades 1-3, are taught in the French language except Religion, which is taught in English in all grades.  English Language Arts and Reading are introduced in Grade 3 to French Immersion students.  Until Grade 3, these students do not take Reading in the English language.

Students can only register for French Immersion at the beginning of Grade 1.

Core French
At St. Henry’s, Core French as a subject is offered to all students in Grades 3-9, who are not in French Immersion classes.  Core French is taught, where possible, by French bilingual teachers.

Other Program Offerings
In addition to all the required English programs for Grades K to 9, and the French Immersion program for Grades K to 9, St. Henry’s provides a variety of additional programs to enrich and expand the educational opportunities for our students.  Some of these are:

• Religious Education – Grades K to 9
• Career Guidance – Grades 7, 8 & 9
• Practical and Applied Arts – Grade 7 Coding, Grade 8 Photography, Grade 9 Food Studies/Sewing

Student Support Services Teacher
The St. Henry’s staff also includes a Learning Support Teacher who provides learning assistance and remedial help to students who can use this help.

Sacraments
Catholic students can choose to prepare for the Sacrament of First Communion, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and the Sacrament of Confirmation in conjunction with the parish.

Textbooks and Workbooks
St. Henry’s provides all students with the free use of the required textbooks and provides all students with required resources at no cost to the student.  However, if a student destroys or damages a textbook, they will be charged a prorated replacement cost.  This will include all lost and damaged library books as well.
